Annotation

In a research note perspectives of development of the domestic film industry through participation in co-production projects. The basic problem, financial and legal support, training and infrastructure development, the solution of which is necessary for joint film productions.

FUTURE EXPANSION OF PARTICIPATION IN UKRAINIAN cinema PROJECTS COPRODUCTION

One of the most effective and realistic ways for internal development and improvement of the Ukrainian film is a part of our country in the international co-production projects - co-production.

Co-production - a process common filmmaking at least two countries when they are involved not only in production but also to finance the film.

This type of film should be seen as a unique opportunity to integrate the Ukrainian culture in European all beneficial to our state results. It is not only the credibility and positive international image, but also a sign of openness and possibility of internal growth through the use of powerful potential of the national culture.

Agreements on co-production - is a necessary form of legalization of joint production when conditioned by the following important points: the financial investment in the film, the timing of work, technical potential involvement of various parties, professional staff team.

The advantages of co-produced films are smaller amounts of state aid, a kind of guarantee of quality and timely completion of the project, the so-called "risk minimization", a distribution expansion geography.

Expanding the practice of co-production as an effective mechanism for the development of the domestic film industry and increase its competitiveness requires the implementation of a number of conditions.

One of them - financial support from the state of filmmaking. In the process of co-production, it is a sign of reliability of the project. In the first place, so that an agreement to work together on the film - an international document that you want to insure against risk in the process of an imbalance between the various stakeholders.

From improving financing mechanisms movie depends on the prospects of participation in international projects. For example, among the countries of Eastern Europe's most active participant of the film are Hungary, and this is due to easy financing scheme: the state reimburses the costs involved in the production of the film, after working on it.

In Ukraine, government funding filmmaking also performed. In 2011, the state allocated 111 million USD for the development of national cinema, of which 61 million - a state order, and 50 million - is government support films. The amount is significant in comparison with the past year 2010, when the development of the industry from the budget was allocated only 24 million.

However, state funding is in Ukraine through archaic procurement mechanism, whereas the potential co-production partners use a more flexible instrument producing.
